They had great suggestions about designing a kitchen for kids, what appliances I should buy based on my cooking level, and how to furnish and organize everything once the kitchen was complete. I never want to move now that we have a fabulous, beautiful kitchen, but, if we are ever in the market for this service again, they are the only company I would use. You pay for what you get with them and KDC delivers an elite service on every level.
The time it takes to remodel your kitchen depends on the size of your project, the amount of work needed, and product lead times. The process can take anywhere from a few weeks to a few months, averaging 2-3 weeks for a small project and 4-12 weeks for a larger, more complex project. These time estimates include the ordering and delivery of your custom products. During your site verification, ask our qualified kitchen contractor how long your project should take.
Keeping your existing kitchen appliances can save you money in the short-term. If your stove, oven, dishwasher or fridge isn't Energy Star-certified, however, you should consider upgrading them. Energy-efficient appliances pay for themselves over time by lowering your utility bills, and they help to preserve the environment, too. Additional electrical rewiring may be required to accommodate Energy Star appliances.
There are so many beautiful things to notice about this bathroom that it's hard to know where to start. The concrete sink? The wallpaper? The sconce lighting? The tarnished mirror on the door, reflected in the main mirror? The barely-there ultra-modern faucets? Whatever you notice first, though, you can't but admit that this space is a masterpiece.
Updating your kitchen backsplash is one of the easiest and cost-effective ways to give a new look to your old kitchen. It is also the first area that should get your attention when renovating your kitchen because a) no renovation is complete without a new Backsplash and b) it is the most used/abused area of the kitchen. From spilled food to hot oil splashes, the backsplash takes it all and complains little.
The matte finish of this durable stone adds an ultra-modern touch to the kitchen without the excessive reflections. In a way, it makes it less susceptible to smudging too. Besides the evergreen black, brown and beiges, the finish also allows you to opt for exotic red and blue colors should you want to add a bit of color to your kitchen. Contrast the seams and colors of the slab with the plainness of white oak cabinets to add an unrivaled touch of class. You can’t go wrong with a pop of color set to a plain white setting. As oak is equally gracious when paired with granite and relatively less prone to water damage than MDFs, the pairing is bound to be a hit. The number of kitchen countertop ideas is as many as the types of countertops, be it natural stones like granite and marble (wondering the difference between granite and marble?) or other engineered stones like quartz.
There are several elements in your kitchen with storage capabilities. Most homeowners start with their cabinets. If you need new cabinets, now is the time to update storage capacity with drawer inserts, roll-out trays or more shelves. You can also choose a closed cabinet design, a glass face to display the items in the cabinets, or even have open shelving.

One of the most brilliant ways to combine convenience with beauty for a kitchen remodel is to be creative (and smart!) with your kitchen lights. It is one of the most cost-effective tricks when it comes to kitchen remodeling ideas. The desired effect can be achieved by mixing-and-matching different fixtures in different spots in the kitchen. Depending on whether you are looking for ambient lighting or task lighting, you could plan the layout and the budget. There are countless kitchen lighting ideas.
When it comes to flooring ideas, hardwood is the most well-known standard and material. Within hardwood, however, there are a lot of variations and differences. The most common form of hardwood flooring came in thick planks of solid timber. Solid hardwood is milled from a single piece of wood and hence a completely natural material. It is more adept at handling temperature and humidity changes.

"A remodeling project is going to affect every room in the house," says A. J. Paron-Wildes, general manager of DreamMaker Bath & Kitchen in St. Louis Park, Minnesota. "The homeowners need to take down pictures, move vases, and pack away valuables before work begins." While you're at it, take steps to protect your immovable fixtures, including built-in cabinets and chandeliers. Have flooring covered with cardboard sheets if it needs to stay in good condition.
Many homeowners consider obtaining a building permit as an unnecessary headache which can slow down the renovation process, but permits are a necessary part of the process in most cases, which can come back to haunt you if not obtained in the first place. Building permits are necessary to ensure your house remodel meets structural and fire safety requirements and code inspectors in most jurisdictions can make you rip out non-conforming work if not up to snuff. This can create a very expensive headache when looking to sell your home down the road. It’s always advisable to think ahead and ensure the permit process is followed. There's a lot to love about this kitchen designed by Arent & Pyke, but we're particularly impressed by the careful, asymmetrical balance happening here. The hood leans to the right of the room, as do the bar stools, which is subtlety reflected in the cream lumbar pillow camouflaging into the sofa. Meanwhile, the linear floating shelf in line with the hood as well as the light fixture, island counter, and sofa form a soothing sense of symmetry.
If you’re thinking about updating appliances or adding new ones, a kitchen remodel is the perfect time to do so, as your cabinet design will be built around your appliance specs. New appliances can give your kitchen a fresh look, but it’s important to choose the right appliances for your needs. If you don’t spend a lot of time in the kitchen, standard appliances might be sufficient. If you enjoy cooking, baking and entertaining, top-of-the-line appliances may be essential.

Remodeling your kitchen is a great investment for any homeowner. In addition to creating a beautiful, functional place to cook delicious meals, entertain guests, and spend family time, a kitchen remodel offers a high return rate in the real estate market. Such a large project does require careful planning to ensure its affordability, since certain factors like the amount of labor, the kitchen's size and the chosen materials can greatly affect the overall cost.
The installation of my granite countertops was a disaster. It was cut wrong and then the company and the installers tried to blame me the customer for this issue. They the installers wanted to cut my new sink to fit the counter which was cut wrong to begin with. When they (installers) left the first time they said that the company had already used my second slab for another job. Disappointing isn't the word for what we went through with this installation. Once it was all said and done 2 weeks later I found damage to my new dishwasher!!! My home was left a disaster during and after the installation and for what we paid this should never have happened.
